The Spooky History Of Halloween!

 

Everyone probably knows about “Halloween”, which is a holiday celebrated each year on October 31. However, not everybody knows Halloween’s real history. So, Today AFbrother will brings you to the spooky story of Halloween!

 

Halloween, contraction of All Hallows’ Eve, a holiday observed on October 31, the evening before All Saints’ Day(November 1) . It is the day when Christians go to church to honour all the saints.

 

There is also believed that on October 31, is the date that the ghosts of the dead return to Earth. The souls of those who had died were believed to return to visit their homes. Some people turn off all the lights and fires in their house to avoid being recognized by the ghosts thought to be present.

 

After that people would light bonfires to frighten away evil spirits, and wear costumes to ward off ghosts. They would make high-pitched screams while walking around the village in the hopes that evil spirits would leave them alone.

October 31, became known as a Halloween then later, the holiday became the celebration we recognize today when it was brought to America.

 

On Halloween, children dress in costumes, make jack-o’-lanterns and go door-to-door for treats. When a door is opened, they will ask the homeowner Trick or Treat? with the implied threat of playing tricks for those who do not provide treats. For example, they may leave empty candy wrappers in font of houses who refuse to give candy.
